The updated Military Police Corps Honors Program regulation is now available.

The 30 October 2026 edition of USAMPS REG 870-21 replaces the 5 January 2026 version.

The regulation covers the Regimental Honors Program, including the Regimental Hall of Fame, Distinguished Member of the Corps recognition, honorary positions, and individual awards. Anyone preparing or reviewing a nomination packet should use this edition.

What Changed

The main revisions address the Lieutenant Colonel Mark Weber Professional Writing Award:

  • Nomination packets: Chapter 7 now specifies that packets must include a professional writing submission and a memorandum containing the information listed in Appendix E.
  • Nomination guidance: Appendix E now distinguishes the author’s duty performance and education from the writing submission’s relevance, contribution to professional discourse, potential to inspire others and overall impact.
  • Automatic consideration: MSCoE Iron Pen winners and finalists from USAMPS are automatically considered for the award.
  • Publication: The regulation now provides for possible publication of the winning article in the MP Bulletin.

Chapter 2 continues to cover the Regimental Hall of Fame. Its eligibility criteria and nomination packet requirements have not changed from the January edition.

We encourage readers to review the full regulation for the requirements that apply to each honor or award.
