Thank you to all who attended our recent Q1 MPRA Webinar! If you missed the webinar, you can click here to view the entire presentation.

During our recent webinar, we had a number of questions from those in attendance. We weren’t able to answer all of these questions; however, USAMPS Commandant Sarah Albrycht and her staff were kind enough to help us answer these questions after the webinar ended. We greatly appreciate their assistance!

Q. Under the new focus, will there be a Protection Program Management Office to fence the programs associated with protection needs especially budget requirements and prioritization for the new MP Protection support?
A. TPO-Protection is currently the PM at MSCOE level for the Army. We acknowledge that there are still proponent priorities outside of this for Protection that we will need to integrate.

Q. Ma’am, what is the planned or estimated compo 1 MP end strength by 2030?
A. ~10.5k

Q. Will the other MP Series be merged into a singular MOS?
A. At initial entry 31X is a possible course of action to reduce accessions gaps to a particular MOS (31B, 31E, 31K). A 31X creates a pool of candidates to ensure all MOS’s are filled as required by the Army. Further discussions are occurring to determine the possibility of extending the merge across all 31Bs and 31Es only.

Q. We have seen a recent update to AR 190-56, will there be more frequent updates to further fine tune the DACP/DASG program as we have already seen 2 major ETPs since that update?
A. The Provost Marshal General is the authority to answer this question.

Q. Ma’am, how do you see these changes impacting COMPO 2/3 in the near/mid term?
A. Without knowing what specific changes are being asked about, we can say that if we are talking COMPO rebalance, then yes it is anticipated for the Army to relook at COMPO 2/3 current structure to meet the needs of identified COMPO 1 limitations based on recent ARSTRUC 25-29 cuts.

Q. Additionally, you mentioned a faster turn time for POIs. Will this extend into the TASS POI’s (MOS-T and NCOPDS).
A. The POIs will update at the speed of need. We can make adjustments at our level, and then submit the changes to TRADOC. We are currently updating both ALC and SLC POIs.

Q. Do you see increased modernization for COMPO 2/3 IOT increase readiness and ensure interoperability with what is sounding like a shorter post MOB timeline?
A. Yes, if increased readiness is required in a COMPO rebalance, then there is an increased need for COMPO agnostic interoperability, which will drive funding/access/fielding of modernization equipment.

Q. What’s the impact to USAMPS should CID become its own proponent?
A. Impact to the MP Proponent is that certain courses, budget, and aligned personnel will transfer to CID that align to their core missions (felony level investigation courses and high risk personnel protection).

Q. Can you provide an update on KD opportunities for MAJs given there will be a significant reduction in MP BNs? Expanded opportunities outside of the MP Corps?
A. MP MAJ KD opportunities remain roughly the same based on the directed KD positions in DA 600-3. The biggest challenge is for the boards to consider all options listed in DA 600-3 and not just typical S3/XO positions. There are no longer soft and hard KD positions, all are considered the same (i.e. Installation Deputy DIV PM is equal to BN S3). We acknowledge that it may take some time for boards to recognize this, but we are messaging directly through HRC to ensure the most accurate board guidance is given to not disadvantage MP MAJs from being KD qualified.

Q. How are we ensuring the NCOs are receiving the same level of continuing education?
A. There will be no change to the level of education that our NCO’s receive through their PME.

Q. Ma’am, could you please talk more about the CRIT initiative, the training, and how we can integrate that army wide?
A. The Crisis Intervention Training is five days and will meet requirements in AR 190-30 which necessitates a comprehensive crisis intervention and response team on Army installations. Military Police are increasingly responding to individuals with emotional, mental, physical, and behavioral reactions to crisis. This requires an integrated police and military health and other community services approach protocol to provide crisis intervention and help to military members experiencing mental health crisis through de-escalation techniques, finding alternative solutions to criminal apprehensions, and rapidly connecting Persons in Crisis (PIC) with mental health and other community resources. This course aides first responders in identifying persons who are in crisis, reducing emotions, intensity of thoughts, and behaviors related to the crisis while ensuring the safety of the individual and responders, provide de-escalation techniques for a person in crisis and connecting them to the correct entities for treatment and support, promote more effective interactions between local law enforcement, first responder and individuals in crisis, redirect the individual from the criminal system to the appropriate mental health care system, and reduce stigma as it pertains to mental health. Integrating CRITs Army-wide will take time. Although 190-30 will address Crisis Intervention requirements, there will not be resources applied, specifically additional personnel. Commanders will need to be creative and adaptive as they stand up their teams to serve their communities. As we see success at Post, Camp, and Station, it is incumbent on all of us to publish the success and the great work of our Soldiers and Civilians.

Q. Any thought of transitioning HHD at BN level to HHC?
A. No

Q. Ma’am, was there or is there any consideration with nesting MP formations back into BCT structures or future DIV Engineer BNs in the future given the
loss of organic MP BNs?
A. Not at the BCTs but rather in the DIVs as they are the new unit of action for the Army. There are still non-DIV co-located MP COs that we are working
through.

Q. Ma’am, can you discuss where you see the 200th Military Police Command’s role in the rear
area?
A. Discussions are happening on the MP CMDs role as a Theater Protection CMD.

Q. Is there an initiative to ensure that all installation LE organizations have a Computer Aided Dispatch System (CADS)?
A. From personal experience, I know that installations like Schofield Barracks still did not have this technology as of a few years ago. Unsure on a specific answer to this question.

Q. Where can I find more information on the changes to MP Regiment?
Look for article from LTC Chris Evans in the near future.
