Nominations are now open for the fiscal year 2024 Major General Bandholtz Award! This award, originally named the BG JP Holland Award, was established in 1969 to recognize the most outstanding Military Police unit in the U.S. Army. In 2019, the Award was redesignated as the MG Harry H. Bandholtz Award for MG Bandholtz who is considered the “Father of the Military Police Corps.”
Today, the purpose of the award is as follows:
The MG Harry Hill Bandholtz competition honors Military Police Units that have demonstrated excellence and achieved results above and beyond. On behalf of the Secretary of the Army, the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG) conducts the competition annually to recognize, cultivate, and inspire excellence within the Army Military Police community.
The award categories are:
- Military Police Company (Active Army)
- Military Police Detachment (Active Army)
- Military Police Unit (USAR) – Company or Detachment size
- Military Police Unit (ARNG) – Company or Detachment size
